Does Grindr Block Screenshots?

Yes. Grindr enforces screenshot blocking for certain content: 

• Expiring Photos - One-time view image messages shared in the chat. Expiring photos remain visible for up to 10 seconds before disappearing forever. The receipt can only open the photos once.
• Albums - Private collections of up to 10 photos and one video. With the privacy control, you can share and unshare albums with anyone at any time.
• Profiles - Personal user pages displayed on a location-based grid. A profile page often includes photos from face pictures to body shots, stats such as age, height, weight, etc., user biography and distance indicator.

In January 2026, Grindr rolled out a stricter protection to prevent users' photos from being captured on mobiles. The screenshot of a photo appears blacked out on iOS and is entirely blocked on Android.

Tip: You can normally screenshot text chats without photos. Grindr will not notify others when you screenshot.

How to Bypass Grindr Screenshot Block?

If you have to screenshot restricted content on Grindr, there are some workarounds to bypass the block.

Use Secondary Device

You can take a photo of your screen with a second device with a camera. It is the simplest and most reliable way to screenshot Grindr. However, the image quality may be compromised, making some details less clear.
