Why Does My Screen Recording Not Have Sound?

There is more than one possible cause of screen recording no sound on PC. But the following are the most likely reasons and corresponding fixes, which would work in 99% of cases.

1. Your screen recorder is not granted permission to access the microphone

How to fix: On PC, open the Start menu and go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Enable both Allow access to the microphone on this device and Allow desktop apps to access your microphone. You should see your screen recorder in the permission list. 

The ways to allow the microphone are different across devices and operating systems. You may ask for help from the Manufacturer if you have no ideas.

2. The volume is too low or you have muted the audio accidentally

How to fix: Click the volume icon on your device and drag the slider to the right to increase volume. You can see an x mark on the volume icon if it is muted. Click Toggle Mute across the icon to unmute the sound.

3. Outdated sound driver or device systems

How to fix: Update your sound driver on your computer to the latest version. Make sure that your mobile phone is the latest version.  Ensure you keep timely updating.

4. The audio codec is incompatible with your video player

How to fix: Your video player may fail to decode the audio track encoded with the screen recorder. You can download & install a proper codec in the video player to play normally.
